For almost 20 years, GRiG has been the safe place for young people whose lives are immersed in insecurity. Focused on young people and their families living on the margins of social and economic life of Serbia, GRiG developed a series of services that could soothe trouble waters of their existence. For it's beneficiaries, GRiG is a possibility, it's a community which is different from their regular surroundings, a supportive environment that provides care, skills, knowledge. GRiG provides experience for its beneficiaries through which they become capable to build their emotional and social intelligence, to feel their personal power to be able to do something with their lives. Starting as a safe place to keep youth out of risks ("give a man a fish" approach), GRiG has grown to become a place where marginalized youth gains skills, knowledge and attitudes that allows them integration within their communities ("teach a man to fish" approach). Still, people of GRiG think that even more can and should be done. To use the proverb analogy, it is time to "teach a man where and how they can learn to fish". This brings us to the need to increase the focus of GRiG to work on making changes in communities all over Serbia. GRiG would like to support marginalized young people to: - Become verbally active - Take care of him-her self - Establish new relations - Become responsible - Solve problems that didn't for years - Develop personal competencies needed for better quality of life - Become independent and ready to help others
