I was so nervous coming in here as a new patient, the last four Eye Care Specialists I had gone to were condescending, so rude, and never focused on just the routine Diabetic eye exam that I needed. I am happy (and relieved) to say that I will be sticking with this office. In my experience as a former medical professional, I have seen many highly rated offices that have been absolutely awful and I am not a high maintenance patient. They got me in and did my exam with no fuss. The staff function just as they should, I saw them handle a very difficult patient there and they were going above and beyond. Dr. Ho was great, she has a good bedside manner and gave very open and honest advice. I see a lot of negative reviews on here about missed appointments and insurance, and those items are the patient's responsibility so I wouldn't take those seriously. I had no trouble getting a confirmation and the office even called me days before my appointment when there was some missing info on my insurance just to make sure I was ready to be seen. The receptionist there is not responsible, when I made an appointment for my 2 son and daughter they said that they were not scheduled and could come another day. My son had to wait there half and hour and they never attended him and told him to leave. For my youngest daughter I asked for an interpreter on her appointment which was September 3rd, when we got there there was no interpreter and the receptionist said that the interpreter was on October 3rd. On September 4th my oldest daughter went to pick up her glasses which we received a phone call telling us to pick them up. The receptionist said that we needed to make an appointment to pick up glasses. I respect my surroundings and the people around me but the receptionist can’t always disorganized.

First time visiting this office for its location. The check in & out was fast & easy, technician was pleasant to work with, Dr. Ho was super nice to understand my need, answer all my concerns, and very patiently explained everything (she knows me as an engineer would ask those kind of questions). It is a very nice experience and would definitely recommend to my friends and go back again myself.

Worst place ever! The front office person was rude, refused to see us, we booked our appointment 2 months in advance. Stay away.

They are cheaters. As earning in visual care is less, they are taking other routes to earn more money. In my case they made me sign deceptive forms and claimed my medical insurance instead of vision insurance and the claim got rejected (as obvious) and I had to make the full payment. Do not trust them. Go to some reputed doctors and facilities who are transparent.

Never pay with Cash and save every Receipt. Been going there for almost a year. I paid for a test with cash when I came in since It wasn’t covered by my Insurance, few weeks later, get a call about a bill. When telling them that it was paid on the spot, they wouldn’t take my word for an answer and then sent my 109 bill to collection. The bill won’t bankrupt me but I was not going to pay double that amount, which would end up at 218.. at the end of the day, I did pay Double the amount for the test. Would not recommend anyone going, but if you do, save every receipt, and don’t pay with cash. Bad experience overall. They also can’t do math correctly to calculate properly what to charge for contacts, overcharged me on that as well. Dr. Ono is great, but the department is not customer centric.

We were referred to Dr. Carlson by my son's pedestrian. The doctor was nice and the appointment went smooth. But then we waited over an hour in line in their glass department to place the order for my son's glass, and we were promised that it would be ready to pick up in 7-10 days. Now it's two weeks and when I called to check if it's ready the lady in the glass department couldn't even tell me if it has been shipped out let alone an estimated date for pick up. The attitude and care we received from the glass department is making me question the overall professionalism and the quality of the glass we would get.

While the receptionist was very friendly and efficient and the doctor did a good exam I was concerned about the technician's attention to cleanliness during her part of the exam. She went in and out of the room touching the door knob and other surfaces and then returned to the room with equipment to use during her exam. At no point did I see her wash her hands or use any of the readily available hand sanitizer. At one point I asked her if she had cleaned the tool she was going to use on my eye and she said she had. When she went to use it on my other eye she said, "oh, I better clean it again" and proceeded to wipe it with a dry kleenex instead of any sort of alcohol cleaner. When the doctor came in she did wash her hands right away but often she touched the keyboard ( that the technician had just touched and there was no cleaning in between) and then touched equipment that was very near my eyes. In the current Covid environment I would think that there would have been more care about cleaning things especially given the fact that they were working on my eyes which are a direct way for the virus to enter my body. There were signs all over the place saying they were working hard to keep things sanitized but I did not see a lot of that going on. I am not sure I will be going back to this place of business.
