So what to say about this cobbler. He is one of the few cobblers in Essex that really knows his trade and has a larger selection of cobbling machinery than you will find in most other shops. When I took in a set of boots to him he confidentiality told me what he could and would do. When I went back to collect them he handed them over and said that of any further stretching was required I could bring them back and the subsequent stretching would be included, but because of the quality of the boot and the way it had stretched he did not believe this would be the case. He knows his onions. The boots are super comfortable and it's only through knowing your craft that you can be sure off a initial assessment. His prices are incredibly reasonable given I also walked out the the remainder of the leather softener as well. I will use this gentleman for any cobbling needs.

Went here to get some footwear modified due to a spinal condition which means I have one leg shorter than the other. Had one shoe built up by 24mm and it has made such a difference. The owner took time to discuss the options available and the materials to be used in order to avoid excessive weight within the built up shoe. Any adjustments after would be undertaken as part of the price paid. I've since been back and had a number of shoes modified as the results have been so good. I have no hesitation recommending The Benfleet Cobbler therefore.

I went to get a belt fixed as a fathers day present and was charged the price of a whole brand new belt. Just for the stud I needed to go into the old one. later that month my dad took in the new belt and asked for the new belt to have a stud put in. He did it no questions... after getting home I asked Dad where he got the stud and he explained what had happened. So I was lied to, and cheated into buying a brand new belt because; \it came as one unit\ for the sake of a small piece of metal work. I was Completely had over. Cannot trust this service to give a true price for the job. The disappointing thing is, I know his brother and went there to give them the business, as I like supporting small, family run enterprises.
