Surrounded with many buildings with a specific type of architecture. I don't know the name. I went there in the night and found the \Festival of Light\. I haven't been there during the day, but it seemed like a good place to walk around during 8-10 am.

The square is the site of one of the most notorious NS book burning ceremonies in 1933, carried out by the German Student Association. There’s a memorial and a plaque, if you look closely enough.
You can spend a nice afternoon/evening with this beautiful view and a book :)
One of the most beautiful places in Berlin - with the HU Law Faculty, which used to be a palace, on one side, the Opera on the other and the HU University just across the street. It's also a close walk to Gendarmenmarkt - that's a bonus
Nice square, we had a guide telling us about the history. It was sobering to see the Book Burning Memorial there. There was some musicians playing classical music when we visited in August 2019. We went as part of \Alla Tours\ all day tour of Berlin from our cruise ship's one day stop in Warnemunde port.
