Took instrument for minor adjustment..and after several visits to pickup instrument ..each time instrument was in worst condition then before..after 2 weeks and instrument in really bad shape.we decided to just take it as we were very frustrated..ran to another place (Olivas)before closing and in 1 day.. They repaired it and now it plays beautifully.. We were told many pads were heated improperly and they had to replace the damaged pads. We had already paid Berties 240.00 For adjustment on two instruments Bb clarinet and bass clarinet. Very frustrated as it seemed that Larry at Berties really new about repairs We chatted at each visit about his long career in the business and he seemed nice enough..We don't know why he could not fix the Bass clarinet and kept trying heating pads in different locations which made things worst. Not a good experience at all!

Absolutely terrible customer service! The owner was incredibly rude and wouldn’t even let me finish my question before becoming defensive. I simply asked if they sold replacement flute key pads and Bertie demanded to know who would do the repair and said he was the only person who can repair the instrument and that I would be stealing his business if I replaced them myself. Highly recommend going to Olivias instead. They were MUCH more helpful than Bertie

Military families - I highly recommend this store. Another music store in El Paso refused to rent us an instrument while we were waiting for permanent housing on Fort Bliss, but Bertie's Music was completely accommodating. They accepted my military ID as satisfactory guarantee in lieu of a Texas ID, and rented us a beautiful, brand new instrument.
