Roadside barbecue concept from America - but a lot better! Big Hug is my absolute favorite place in Dusseldorf and surroundings. Spare ribs, pulled pork, oven potato - whatever I tried tastes great. You can also find some non-standard drinks, like with soda with cucumber taste and a pleasant selection of beer. The way there from Dusseldorf by bicycle is also quite comfortable.

Best BBQ around Dusseldorf! This is the closest that I've found to authentic American style BBQ. Very high quality for a reasonable price. If you want good bbq this is the place to go.

Best place to go for your dose of meat! You can't decide what to eat grab a Motherload and explore all the goodies. Great staff, great food, great music and usually great guests too! A place to worship the greatness of slow cooked smoked meat. Don't worry they also have meatless side dishes and something green, that looks off, called salad. ;-) Yum!

Better than in Texas! I was in Texas 6 months ago and while Texas breathes barbecue and I loved a lot of the food I tried out there, I still believe Big Hug is even better. When we arrived the chefs were busy packing (for a food festival of some sort I guess) but luckily they were open as we had just driven over 60 minutes just to tick this place of our list. The reception was friendly and it felt real and authentic and you could sense their love for what they do. We decided to order every meat dish on the menu just to try it all and we were not disappointed. The clear highlights for me were the spare ribs, pulled pork and jalapeno/cheese sausage. The rest was also good although personally I found only the chicken to be a mere ok. My only big issue with this place is that it's so far away from where I live... Ok it beats flying to Texas so in a way it's pretty close by. I will surely be visiting more often even if it means driving well over an hour to get there.
