I took advantage of the long late June days and rented a bike for 24 hours, which was a bargain. 10 euros for 3.5 hours; 15 euros for 24 hours! I took off at 11 am from the downtown Haarlem bike shop and biked to the North Sea beach towns. I biked back taking detours through the national seashore park and two other national parks. At one point I learned that bikes need to go in the bike lane on the correct side of the street — I was going the wrong way with a mob of rush-hour bikes headed toward me! Beware. It was definitely too much to try, but then I biked to Zaanse Schans, the town known for its windmills. It even involved taking a free ferry boat across the Zaans river! I dragged back into my hotel at 8:30 pm. The only way I did this was by mapping my route on Google maps before I left a wifi area and bringing my phone charger.
Great tour with Jannic, our very knowledgeable guide, to see the beautiful town of Haarlem and surrounding countryside. Highly recommend.
Great city tour, but we were also very lucky with the weather. The guide was very friendly and knew a lot about the city. Thanks again!
My wife and I had a great tour! The guide knew the little stories of Haarlem you would never get in a guide book!
