Great yoga lessons with personal help. Anneliese is a very knowledgeable teacher who paces the lessons well and works on poses over several weeks. Mindfulness is included and I come away feeling stronger and more relaxed after each after each sessi..

If you’re new to the Sussex area there is no need to try umpteen yoga teachers looking for - what I call - a proper yoga teacher. Just go straight to Anneliese. You won’t be disappointed. Sadly, I’ve moved away so no longer train with Anneliese. Thankfully, the things I learnt on the Relax Restore Revitalise course can be practiced and used as a tool on a daily basis so I frequently apply them to difficulties in life. They are a key tool in my mental health toolbox. I really can’t express my gratitude enough. Managing mental health is a seemingly endless task, but one that I find much easier given the knowledge I acquired from Birchwood Yoga. Thanks so much Anneliese.

Anneliese is truly amazing. She is compassionate, patient and kind in her teaching style and creates such a sense of calm that when you leave you will feel rejuvenated and relaxed. Since having group lessons with Anneliese I have started practicing yoga and meditation every day for an hour and a half. Yoga is something I believe I will continue practicing for the rest of my life because of Anneliese teaching me the benefits for the mind and body and how to practice safely without causing injury. I've moved away so sadly cannot attend classes anymore but if you live nearby then you must give her classes a try, they will truly change your life for the better :)

I’d been doing yoga for several years and was looking for a teacher I could grow and develop with, in a small class setting where I wouldn’t be “lost in a crowd”. Additionally, the setting in which the classes take place was also very important- I find it can make or break a new habit. With Anneliese and her beautiful studio, it simply ticks all the boxes. What you see on arrival is stunning: the studio among the greenery of the countryside (yet very accessible); light and airy, often with a birdsong in the background and the lovely smells of ever changing garden. Everything is provided: your yoga mat laid out, with blocks, a blanket and an eye pillow, a bolster if you wish it and a whole array of other helpful props, which Anneliese employs to help you ease yourself in a move. As for the yoga itself: it’s been a revelation. I’d been accustomed to “striving” towards a position but with Anneliese’s Scaravelli inspired approach I’m learning that less is often more. I’m learning to listen to and respect my body and work with it rather than force it into submission. The classes are 1.5 h long, which is perfect for really unwinding and letting go (yet the price is the same as other 1h yoga classes). Anneliese is gentle, warm and respectful. She has life experience, which really helps I think in being a yoga teacher. She works with the breath, which living in the West, we really don’t know much about, so it’s a new skill with amazing calming benefits. I’m really impressed- so much so that both my husband and I have now started to do a class together and he’s loving the experience too. Whatever your body ability, whether you’re a beginner or have done yoga before, you’ll love the experience!

Having moved to Lewes around three years ago, I was looking for a Scaravelli-inspired Yoga class in a purpose-built space, with session times friendly for people who work and/or parent - and Birchwood yoga was just right. I miss it when I miss a session- a little oasis of focus and calm. Incidentally, also good for doing all other kinds of sports, Birchwood Yoga balances them out. I'm glad Anneliese's there - keeps you sane!
