Good for kids
Amazing, you can join the great application trail and a few more trail heads just off the road way. A great about hike anyone can do with the reward of a beautiful waterfall. The the route there has limited spread out free camping along the river. Does make for good space between campers tho.

This was one of the most beautiful trail that I saw in Georgia! Easy and short walk, about an hour long for the round trip. You will be walking next to the beautiful creek until you reach the fall, which was smaller than I expected but awesome! Only downside is the 20-30 minutes dirt road you have to drive to get to where the trail starts. Better bring SUV or pickup truck up the road!
Fun and easy walk down a very heavily trafficked and very well marked shared AT and Benton MacKaye Trails. This short 1 mile hike is kid and dog friendly. When reaching a 3 point junction near falls stay left on Benton MacKaye trail. The normal viewing platform for the falls is very flat but one can get creative with other vantage points in climbing rock outcrop or ascending up BM trail to headwaters of falls. The falls themselves is a triple slide down numerous step like formations the in larger rock strata in stream-bed. The last drop is scoped at 35 feet according to online literature. It’s well shaded by a canopy of pines and rhododendrons. If you approach the Forest Service road from the south from the town of Nimblwill you minimize your ride time on the compacted dirt road that some feel is “narrow”. Believe me when I tell you almost any normal passenger car can navigate this road.
Beautiful waterfall. I will warn you that the drive in is 5 miles of gravel/dirt and very narrow at times when you’d hope it’d be wider as we had to backup multiple times to let another car pass. The hike to the waterfall does have some inclines and declines and was a mile each way. It was worth it though as the view is gorgeous and the waterfall puts off a cool breeze which is very nice after the hike.
The Forest Service road is rough, but well maintained. 4.5 miles of bumps and hills and tight turns lead you to a wider place in the road where you can park and then do the approximately 1 mile hike up to the falls. Trail is well marked and maintained. Well worth the 2 mile round trip for the hike - getting there from Blue Ridge is about an hour but very pretty drive.
