We were assisted right away, staff is most helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the baked prosciutto and mozzarella from the starter menu. On that bed of arugula, it was more like a meal salad. My wife likes her spinach salad, but thought the dressing was missing something, and could have used a bit more spinach. There was a rainbow trout special that I selected for my main dish, and fell in love with. The trout with garlic butter and capers was perfect and moist. The asparagus on the side was tender without being mushy. My wife chose the jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon, and there portions were generous enough that she took half of it home. Yes, well be back.

We loved this new restaurant. The food was delicious and the ambience was really cool.
We've eaten here a couple times and have always been impressed by the food and friendly atmosphere. Not to mention the building is amazing! It's so rustic and beautiful. Definitely would recommend to our friends.
This is an amazing venue. It's like a rustic hunting lodge, but it's so much more. We just tried the Grilled Prosciutto - an appetizer that was big enough to be a light dinner for two. It's a new place, but the service and food were well rehearsed. It did not disappoint. We will go back as often as possible. A bit pricey, but so worth it.
Will likely give this place at least one more chance. Ribeye was good, but a little fatty for the price. Service was very attentive and fast. Beautiful dining room and atmosphere. Would like to see a little more variety on the menu.
I gave this place three stars for two reasons; cost in relation to food quality and service in relation to cost. This restaurant is priced pretty high in relation to the taste/quality of food. Based on the taste, quality of meat and and preparation, I believe the average price of a plate should be between 14-18. This place is definately overpriced for the flavor/quality. Lastly, in relation to cost, the service could be faster or more efficient. We waited quite a bit of time for our check, and cost should also be directly tied into great service. The service was not bad and neither was the food, however, based on cost...it was just overpriced. I will be honest, there are other places with similar costs that are far better. Those were the two biggest issues I identified, and they are my honest observations. I believe the prices should be dropped 6-10 per plate, or the quality/service needs to be picked up. All places start with one star, and the two other stars it earned are given for the great atmosphere and location. In conclusion, this place has great potential and has a unique feel, however, it was not a place that had the "I am definately coming back" factor. Try it out, you may have a different experience, but if you plan on taking a new date out for the first time...this would not be a pick for me.
My husband and I have been having dinner here every week since they opened. We truly enjoy the ambiance of the old restaurant and the special attention of the staff. We love the food and cocktails. The pricing is fair and comparable to other upscale Boerne restaurants. So glad you're here Iron Stag!
My husband and I went for dinner Friday night; our first time at The Stag. There was a wonderful singer/songwriter playing too. Best parts of our meals were, the sirloin steak, mashed potatoes, small roasted tomatoes, asparagus, wedge salad, and creme brulee for dessert and tasty Margarita's. Waitress, Elena, was attentive and sweet. Will definitely go again! Things they can work on: Understanding that getting the food and service just right, being the priority...when that's nailed, the exterior of the building is dingy and not terribly inviting. Sorry. And more lighting on the fabulous back wall shelf would be great. Add some Hill Country related decorative items. But all in all we were very pleased.
