Lord Leverhulme's folly - or one of them. The man did a lot of good but he had more money than he knew what to do with. At least Lever Country Park was bequeathed to the people of Bolton and the people use it well. It's a lovely area with wonderful walks.

Nice place, hidden gem near horwich high school only recently discovered this was here after looking for ruins & castles near by... Although Liverpool Castle is in ruins this is how it was left, the build was never finished, started to be built around 1912 but never completed. This was supposed to be a replica castle which maybe due to money or ill health the build was never completed. Great place to walk, it is hidden but quiet easy to find. Good place to walk then dog. Enjoy.
Grandson loves walking up there & from car park just long enough there & back. Plenty paths around for circular walks.
Looks a bit neglected these days could do with a bit of a tidy up and some gravel throwing down. Good place to stop for a picnic when Boris allows it as the walls offer some shelter.
Nice interesting place to explore when visiting Rivington.
