Spectacularly beautiful and unique landscape. Easy short trail to get a good view of the landscape, or you can continue further off the end of the mail trail if you'd like. If you only have time for a couple hikes in Gros Morne, this is a must.

Easy walk/hike with a waterfall at the end. Some off-trail hiking can be done as well. This is the area where the Earth's mantle burst through the crust. Super cool geology!

One of my favourite place in the Gros Morne Park! They call it the official Mars on Earth because of similar rock formation. It is interesting to see the rock that formed deep in the Earth mantle exposing on the Earth surface. The bare land makes a contrasting scene to the mountain across the road. It's a 2km hike from trailhead to the scenic platform. There is a trail continuing pass the scenic platform and possibly go up the the top of the mountain.

The tablelands is an amazing walk on the earths mantle. We explored it on our own following from the trail head. It was spectacular knowing Earth has 4 layers: The outer crust that always see, like mantle, liquid outer core and solid inner core.

Certainly a unique place in NL. However, I wish there was more interpretation of the site. There's minimal signage anywhere along the trail to really learn about its significance.

This is the highlight of our Gros Morne trip! Daily guided tours at 10am, which we did; our guide Jay was very knowledgeable and entertaining! In the 90-minutes guided tour, she has explained the geology of Tablelands and has paid great details showing us the rocks and plants there; highly recommended. The view and being hiking on the earth’s mantle, just wonderful!

It's been three days since we've visited and I still can't find the words to describe this place! We did the 10am Parks Canada Tour and didn't regret it. It's a nice easy pace and our guide was super informative. Worth it!

Here's the best advice for visiting this incredibly unique and beautiful place! Download the guided tour app, available for IPhone and Android, called "Gros Morne Guided Tour". It's by Parks Canada and available in both English and French. This wonderful app will make your visit much more informative and fun! It uses GPS to alert you when it's time for a brief blurb as you hike the 2K path. As the app promises, it truly delivers: "This guided tour app provides you with location-specific text, images, sound, and video as you walk along the Tablelands trail in Gros Morne National Park." Download when you have WiFi, like at your hotel the night before, and get much more enjoyment from this must-do easy hike. And, if your not able to download, stop at the Discovery center, just a few kilometers prior to the Tablelands, and ask to use one of their tablets that has the download on it! For free!! There is a live guided hike at 10 AM each day, as well as 2PM Monday and Wednesday during high season. If you miss the hike or prefer to go on your own, definitely use the app. At an easy pace, it's about 1.5 hours long. Children (and adults) would be thrilled to carry the phone or tablet and hear its musical notes indicating its time for a bit more cool information about this rare and awesome place!
