Edit 11/20/2020: Look, I still love their sandwiches, but when I ask for double meat (expecting to pay for it!) and they charge me 6 extra for it (which is fine!) I'm expecting to actually get the double meat and not just get a normal sized sandwich. I order from you guys a lot and I'm pretty annoyed with the size of the sandwich. See the one in my picture? THAT is double meat. Not the tiny thing they gave me today. Edit 12/12/2020: MEAT SIZED ISSUE, FIXED! THANK YOU DELICIOUS SANDWICH MAKERS Edit: 12/21/2020: Still amazing. One sandwich food for an entire day. They are so good! I know they're probably gaming the Boston Trip Advisor rankings somehow, but they really do make a top notch sandwich. I lived in Philly for a decade, the sandwich capital of America in many ways, and I haven't had a better traditional Italian sub than the ones I've had at Monica's. Get the large, get extra everything, it's worth every penny. Edit: I should probably try some of their other sandwiches at some point, but their Italian is just so good!

Great joint. great atmosphere—the real deal and great sandwiches—a bit skimpy on the meat but still 5 star. Disappointed a bit to see the staff uncertain about what goes on what sandwich and less friendly staff then years past and less efficient. On a taste test against Bricco was hard to choose—I suggest the hot subs over the cold.

Really good sub, was actually going to have seafood for late lunch. walking in north end, picking up some bakery items at bova's next door and fortuitously decided to check out this place. one of the best italian subs i've ever had. great bread, which is so important, great meats too. passed on the \hots\ but had everything else. got the large, planning on 2 meals. not cheap [12 for small, 15 for large] in my mind but not from \big city\ so maybe this is the going rate. carry-out only.

Best Italian sub you’ll ever have. When I’m in the North end I always stop!

I used to come here all the time when I lived in the North End. Get the steak salad loaded with veggies.
