Went for the Dumpling cooking class with Chef Mike. It was really fun and instructive. We (8 total in the class) made almost 50 dumplings. Chef Mike walked us through how to get the skin and was really knowledgeable. We also made stir fry noodles, spicy strong beans, and ginger ice cream. Really delicious.

Went for a cooking class (and some shopping after, of course) and had a great experience. The staff was very friendly. Chef Rory guided us through the class with patience and kindness. I had feared we might have an "iron chef" of sorts, but he was very easy-going. Pascale was helpful as well, and Rina gave us fantastic insight on their wide range of products. Went home with 4 new delicious recipes (that I can and will recreate at home) and some high-quality kitchen gear. I would definitely like to return someday soon!

Great place to take a cooking class, wonderful instructors.

The cooking class was super fun! The dishes we cooked were fun to learn and delicious to eat - and what I really appreciated was all the kitchen skills that the chef taught us as we went along through the class! For instance, he taught us the right way to hold the knife and move the knife across the cutting board, he taught us about using whole spices instead of ground spices, etc. He is clearly very knowledgeable and enjoys sharing that knowledge with his students!

A very meh experience. Went to a cooking class last weekend, chef seemed very uninterested with being there, and rude. A few "classmates" asked questions. One specifically regarding why a certain ingredient was in the recipe and the response was "because whoever wrote it put it in there".....what?! He could of lied if he didn't know maybe; "to make it sweeter" perhaps? At one point he mentioned this class was all on us, it wasn't one of those "sit back and relax classes where the chef does the work"....interesting/strange comment. We learned nothing about Tuscany, even though the class was about Tuscan food. I don't think Tuscany or Italy was mentioned once. The chef didn't even know the name of the class when we arrived! haha - it was odd, looking back I am honestly surprised we didn't leave early. Had such high hopes when we found this place, sad letdown. Luckily, there are many other places for cooking classes in the city!

I first interacted with the Sur La Table at Copley about three years ago as part of a cooking class I attended with my team from work as a holiday outing. That was a great experience, but it appears the customer service and experience has declined over the years. I recently attended a class that was an absolute mess - we ran out of ingredients, the chef was very rushed so we did not learn many techniques, and we left with a collection of half-finished parts (for two pies) instead of the "take bake" items promised. Following up on that poor experience, I was offered a free class as an apology, which is a nice gesture. The issue is that I've made five calls to the store now attempting to redeem the offer for the class and I have not been able to connect with a chef, nor have the store staff been faithful in passing along my contact info and request for a call-back it seems. My expectation is that when I purchase goods and services from upscale brick-and-mortar retail, I am getting a seamless, effortless customer experience that is part of what sets that channel apart since I can easily obtain many of those same goods and services online quicker for less money. My experience at this location of Sur La Table does not come close to meeting that expectation. There's room for improvement.

Great cooking store, but also offers nice classes. We attended the French and Autumn fusion class, and overall enjoyed the experience. We felt like we were actually contributing, and the staff were very professional and knowledgeable.
