This garden right in the heart of Lisbon is absolutely beautiful. It’s not huge but it is also not that small. You will find a lot of places to seat and relax for a bit. You’ll find it very calm and noise free from the roads nearby. I guess for a botanist is something out of this world but for a regular person that will not read every single tree name is also pretty fine. Baby strollers are fine, but I’d recommend one with bigger wheels. The entrance was 3 and for only 2 more you can get a ticket for the museum, I haven’t for time constraints but I think you should.

Calm, quaint botanical garden. I've enjoyed walking around, it's not too busy and it is nice to have a break from the rushed roads around the city.

Mismanagement, carelessness, not appreciating the treasures of one's city, lack of water for a botanic garden ! , decadence... so many dying species in the garden... No one seems to care. The garden supposedly was under reconstruction, and closed but one doesn't feel that it was reconstructed and bettered. This was my first time time that I came here after the reopening. But it seems the garden is in worst shape than before... This is unacceptable. There are very old plants in the garden, but without water they will all die... I was very unhappy to find the place in such a state. Especially after being closed for so long for renovation. The cut tree is right next to the garden, but as you see the tree was absolutely healthy and old. Why to cut it down? To make a parking lot !! such a shame....

It could use some maintenance and love. Looks a bit forgotten.

The garden is nice to walk into but it is quite small. I suggest buying the combined ticket to access the garden and the museum. The latter is quite big and comtains a variety of expositions about plan history, minerals and skeletons of existing and extinct species (including dinosaurs). The combined ticket costs 6 euros while the garden only ticket costs 5 euros.

This year, 2020, Lisbon is the green capital of Europe. One visit to the botanic garden and you know this is a lie!!! The garden was closed for reconstruction for a few years. Half of it still is under construction and closed. The other half is full of withering and dying species...this is a big shame. No water for the botanic garden ! Only in Lisbon this is possible! No gardeners to care for the place. THE BOTANIC GARDEN IS DYING AND NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE!!!

A gem in the middle of the city. This botanical garden is special because it has a lot of very high trees, a little bit like a lush rainforest. Great for a walk and reasonably priced with 3 euros.

Nice small botanical garden. As of April 2018, some parts are still under renovation, but still worth the visit. Beautiful collection of trees and plants, with nice gravel walkways and plenty of benches to relax in the shade. There is a cultural programme with some plays in the amphitheatre. Only a few euros to get in, worth the visit. Tickets can be combined with the adjacent Natural Science Museum.
