I spent many nights at the Boutique Hotel while on business trips in Leiden. It is a unique place where you can disconnect from work and enjoy a peaceful and luxury environment that makes you feeling at home and pampered. Rooms are comfortable, breakfasts are delicious, and environment gorgeous with canals and old Leiden city. Staff and owners are kind and helpful at any time. Wifi works well for the late evening emails, train station and biosience park are at walking distance. Finally, I brought my family in for a week-end just because I loved the place.

Super helpful and friendly host at the reception. The room we occupied was once used to accommodate personnel. The entrance of the room is one the groundfloor and the bedroom can be enterend by a pair of stairs on the second floor. This makes it a super cute little house. But doors slam pretty hard (even at night and early morning). It almost made us sit right up in our beds. We paid 160 for a night for the two of us without breakfast. That I find a bit overpriced for what it actually offered. We booked through booking.com.

Unbelievably rude host, frayed towels, it was just lacking everything. If it had been cheap, you would have put up with it, not at the amount they’re charging! Location is nice though, but Leiden is full of nice locations, don’t go here. Adjustment since the host replied. He says I did not stay here, as it was not booked under my name, as you can see, I ticked the “couple” box, the booking was in my husbands name. The host does not accept criticism, he can not see his flaws, shame, as he lets his company down. We complained about noise, which he was convinced could not have happened, well it kept me up, same as his reply now, the customer must be telling fibs...Not the attitude I expect, and it’s that attitude that ruined our stay. If you read other reviews, we’re not the only ones, this man seems to be prone to moods. To be fair, we stayed some time ago, only writing the review now, as we’re going to Leiden again and thought of our horrible experience at this place.

My experience with this hotel was bad. I was hoping to get a night with comfort and ease and found myself getting the opposite without being aware I would get it. I came in without a booking and the receptionist offered me the 'apartment', only explaining it was just behind the hotel. Once I arrived there later in the evening, there was nothing left of the luxury that was showing in the lobby of the hotel. It was just like a student housing in a student complex. The neighbors were loud, the toilet was dirty with hairs, the couch was uncomfortable, the power socket fell from the wall. As I'd paid over 100 euros for one evening I was not expecting anything like this. So I called the night reception and explained the situation. The lady was understanding and told me that for now there was nothing they could do but that there could be compensation when I came the next day to the reception. The next day at the reception I again explained that I was not happy with what I got offered, but then suddenly there was no possibility anymore for any compensation. I think once they saw I was merely a young guy, they changed their mind and no longer wanted to offer me anything anymore. I think that as a 4 star hotel they could a better job in their customer service.

This hotel was the best hotel i slept in ever. So artistic and antique just as what i like. The only lacking thing is that the buffet was not enough and it hasn’t varied food

I travel quite a bit (I'm an academic). Upon arriving at the hotel, I learned that it was under renovations. Workers were hammering away below, yelling loudly and walking about, and were expected to continue doing so for many hours. I was not informed of this when booking. The receptionist was kind and friendly and tried to offer compensations (free breakfast), but you can't really compensate a hotel room sounding like a construction site. I asked them to cancel my booking and told them we'd part as friends, but the owner refused. I picked up my things, booked an alternative hotel and left. I've never left a negative review for any service in my life, but not informing a guest of renovations and refusing to refund the booking is really unprofessional and, in my opinion, amoral as well. Please think long and hard before booking and giving your money to this establishment and its owner.
