This GP surgery needs a major overhaul. Everything is a nightmare from the appointment procedure to the communication. I was referred for an allergy blood test by my ENT. I asked for a call once my results had been received but never received a call. When I called in to ask for the results, the staff didn't have a clue about what had happened to my blood test! After a whole week of going back and forth I finally received a call from a member of staff informing me of the results of my blood test. The information given was not not accurate and she didn't bother explaining very much at all missing key parts of information. Its very clear the surgery is incredibly disorganised, even the communication internally and with members of the public is very fragmented.

Today I got a call from hospital for an appointment for next week after waiting just a few weeks, I had a problem, as usual reception staff were helpful and after discussing my problem briefly they made me a telephone consultation with Dr Zahir for later that day, he always makes you feel at ease and listens to concerns before discussing treatment options and makes a plan with you for you, rather than most places where doctors don’t write you a prescription and send you on your way. I find all the doctors at the surgery are polite and helpful and patient care is of the highest level. They have an amazing team working with them from the nurses, the reception staff and the managers who I have found always try to help as best they can and go above and beyond to resolve any queries, credit where credit is due in these unprecedented times, keeping services going. Thank you

Since relocating after marriage, I was sceptical about building relationships all over again with a new GP practice. I have not been disappointed with the level of care and compassion presented by all staff at Thornbury medical centre. Through these difficult times the reception staff have been exceptional with my care. From general enquiries to my repeat prescriptions they have been absolutely fantastic, and deserve recognition and commending for their outstanding efforts and maintaining patience with complex patients like myself!! SO A HEART FELT THANK YOU!!

Arrogant and rude reception staff with a even more rude and arrogant manager. Difficult to even express or explain yourself to them. Considering they are the first people to contact they are clearly not creating a good image and show they couldn't care less. Lacking empathy, professionalism, lack of communication all quality's needed to be a heathcare professional. Clearly in the wrong profession. Especially in the current pandemic we are facing to have receptionist turn around and say 'you are not our problem' compared to real NHS hero's, one word for thornbury APPALLING!!!

After my brothers prescription from the dermatologist was lost in the post I was signposted to our GP for a new prescription. But surprise suprise they were no help YET AGAIN. I was disgusted when the rude and incompetent practice manager Sobia told me my 3 year old brother who was in great pain due to a skin infection would not be able to receive antibiotics from the GP as I am 'increasing the doctors workload' and was told to 'just wait until tomorrow'. I was told to ask for an emergency supply from the pharmacy when the GP could easily have issued a prescription , when unable to do so I called back and was told to wait till after 6 so I can ring out of hours. So our 'fantastic' GPs from Thornbury medical centre are too busy to write prescriptions for children who are in pain and make us wait several hours so the NHS 111 doctors and staff can waste their time on something that would have taken them minutes. The out of hours doctor was shocked when I explained the situation and issued a prescription straight away. The positive reviews on here are a clear indication of the massive inconsistency in the quality of care given to patients, as I havent met a single person in the whole of thornbury that shares the same opinion. The lack of basic accountability and any sort of compassion in the service they offer is so profound. Almost seems like a a deliberate sabotage of poor behaviour intended to drive people away for the surgery! Especially after being told 'go somewhere else if you arent happy here'!
