Older, established cafeteria style country sit down joint, just out of downtown. Nice atmosphere. The people are very nice. But the food is heavily overcooked. My turkey was decent, well seasoned but not Smokey, like it was just roasted. The pork was bland, and tough. The brisket, which is supposed to be the pride of Texas BBQ, was dang near inedible. Way too done, like they cooked it all day yesterday and then again today. None of the meat tasted like it was smoked at all, just roasted. My broccoli & cheese was good, and the potato salad was good. Tea was a little bitter. Probably won’t eat here again. Truly deserved 1 Star, but for the friendliness of the girls on the line.

If you are looking for genuine BBQ, you won’t be disappointed with the Branding Iron! Driving through town at lunch, we were looking for a local place and found it. Definitely not a picturesque part of town, but the food is worth the drive. We had ribs, brisket and chopped beef. The ribs fall of the bone tender, the brisket also was super tender.
Brisket was very moist, the pork ribs tasty but the sides need some work.
Anytime I am in town, I must visit this BBQ spot. They have great BBQ with fair prices for large portions. And they make some of the best barbecue sauce I have tasted.
Catering service is excellent. Food quality is second to none.
