I enjoyed my time learning and working there. I was responsible for the sand and refinish of the first 2 levels of the hardwood floors. I hope to see the final completion one day with my daughter. Me and another guy spent countless hours bringing those floors back to life, while attempting to maintain the integrity of the history. I am honoured to have been a part of this project to save the evidence.

The Woodlands Cultural Center is an important historic site. My favourite part is their art gallery that hosts a massive exhibition annually for Indigenous artists. Great staff that is educated, kind, and friendly. Suparb space, so much work has gone into the museum.
I appreciate and I am thankful for the Woodland Cultural Center preserving and saving the evidence of my ancestors' experience of attending the Mohawk Institute. An amazing resource for teaching. I brought my daughter and niece.
Highly recommend their tours. Great staff and great way to learn about local Indigenous history and culture. I would go back again and again in a heart beat.
I love that they took a place of sadness and abuse and turned it into a place where people can learn of the atrocities committed against the native people and teach the native culture and language to those who were robbed of their heritage and to those who will help prevent such atrocities from ever happening again.
I enjoyed going here for an exhibit and seeing the museum. Very educational experience. Hearing stories first hand from a residential school survivor is something you cannot put in a text book. I learned a lot and would recommend everyone go here to become educated on Indigenous peoples and their history (from the source) that is not governed by colonial practices.
Very historic Mohawk Institute and a must to tour and learn about a very interesting but sad (dark) history of native children. Originally opened in 1828 as the Mechanics Institute for Native Six Nations boys and later in 1834 native girls were accepted. I encourage you to google Mohawk Institute History now...and read up...
Amazing experience! So much history and culture here along with real artifacts and thought provoking displays. Highly recommend to everyone of any age.
