Unfortunately the museum was closed even though their notice boards at the main door stated it is supposed to be open. We were there at 11am on Sat. Notice board starts it should be open from 10am on a Sat.

Small interesting well-kept museum. You should definitely visit it on the way to L'Agulhas. Take some time to explore and learn some history. Your kids will ask too many questions - be prepared
The museum was typical of most museums but amusing because it is a Shipwreck museum found in an inland town! There is a lot of history recorded with interesting artifacts found at various shipwrecks around the western Cape. Meeting Juno, a friendly ginger cat on staff was a real treat!
A stunning collection of the history of shipwrecks around the South African coast, particularly the southernmost parts. Beautifully presented and maintained. A real treasure!
Good. A bit run down. Has character
Small but well kept for museum in small town. Very interesting. Except for the shipwreck part, there are extra exhibitions as well as outside
Beautifully curated collection of maritime artefacts. Well worth a visit. Loved the circle of huge ship anchors in the garden.
Don't understand why this place is CLOSED over one of the busiest holiday weekends in the year. Big disapointment !!!
