Convinced my parents to take an Alpha boiler, they listened to him even though they had the money (Grandfather's modest inheritance) to get a better boiler. Within two years of installation we have forked out nearly 500 in repairs. Another plumber came out (that George Waters palmed us off to) and actually informed us that Alpha incentivise plumbers with holidays to Italy to sell their junk boilers. The insurance wouldn't help us as the boiler serial number states it's way older than the three years we've had it, and is beyond economical repair. All this whilst the recent cold snap happened, my parents' house was like a tomb, add to that my father is also disabled. George Waters told us it that it wasn't his problem, and thankfully British Gas came to our rescue! Alpha boilers are horrific (do your research) and as for George Waters and Son, well... ...his comment below says we never had the boiler serviced...the first time the boiler packed in another plumber George Waters told us to go to, serviced it then. Then the second time it packed in we had it serviced again. Within the space of a year. I URGE EVERYONE TO RESEARCH ALPHA BOILERS BEFORE HAVING THEM INSTALLED! Just look on Google and you'll see the abysmal track record they have. According to the plumber that was sent to us the first time, they use aluminium parts that break down after a year, the next thing to go is the circuit board, which is what our insurance company said had happened, and then (the insurance company were just as bad) told us the boiler was five years old through the serial number and was \beyond economical repair\. It was installed \brand new\ in February 2015. I make that just over three years we've had it.
