We have been with BTES for over two years now. They showed up today at 2:45pm on a holiday (Martin Luther King Day) to shut off our power. We were given zero notice that there was an issue and told we had until 5pm or our power would be disconnected. Our account is in good standing, but our guarantor had moved (still within the service area and has the same account). We were told we either had two hours to pay the 500 deposit or come there, with our guarantor, on a holiday, to submit the same exact form....for the same exact two parties...on the same exact account as before or our power would be disconnected. Absolutely ridiculous. I have been pleased with BTES up until this point, even with the slow internet speeds, and after I figured out I was charged 110 more for \levelized\ billing, but I am extremely displeased with what unfolded today. Absolutely abysmal customer service! If there was any other option, I would take it.

I'm a single disabled mom. I had a family emergency and spoke to Diane. We agreed that if I paid a certain amount she would work with me until the next day for the rest. So I went and paid what I promised and they cut off my power. They refused to say what time it was cut off. because I have a reciept with the time plus I verifity with my son the power was on after I paid. Now they want a reconnect fee. And Diane is now in meetings and won't speak to me. They overcharge for everything already. But they have a monopoly being the only power company.
