Bristol Museum & Art Gallery is a large museum and art gallery in Bristol, England. The museum is situated in Clifton, about 0.5 miles (0.8 km) from the city centre. As part of Bristol Culture it is run by the Bristol City Council with no entrance fee. It holds designated museum status, granted by the national government to protect outstanding museums. The designated collections include: geology, Eastern art, and Bristol's history, including English delftware. In January 2012 it became one of sixteen Arts Council England Major Partner Museums. The museum includes sections on natural history as well as local, national and international archaeology. The art gallery contains works from all periods, including many by internationally famous artists, as well a collection of modern paintings of Bristol. In the summer of 2009 the museum hosted an exhibition by Banksy, featuring more than 70 works of art, including animatronics and installations; it is his largest exhibition yet. It was developed in secrecy and with no advance publicity, but soon gained worldwide notoriety. The building is of Edwardian Baroque architecture and has been designated by English Heritage as a grade II* listed building. The standard opening hours are: Tuesday – Sunday, 10am–5pm. The museum is also open 10am-5pm on Bank Holiday Mondays and Mondays during Bristol school holidays.

Like all British museums, of course, beautiful and captivating with its exhibits. I recommend!
This is a really good museum. So much to see here. I loved the animal part, learnt a lot there. Free entry which is lovely, a donation is welcome and I was more than happy to. The staff were very helpful, the displays were clean and clear. The information about what you were looking at was strong. Would visit again definitely.
Part of Bristol Museums, an association of six fine museums in the city, Bristol Museum and Art Gallery has three floors filled with Egyptian mummies, wildlife, dinosaurs, gemstones, glass, pottery, oriental arts, and a collection of Old Masters. An entire section is devoted to I. K. Brunel and his many technical achievements. The nearby Red Lodge Museum (closed Jan to April), with its old furniture and fine Elizabethan room, focuses on the human side of history.
Always a pleasure to visit Bristol Museum. 2h appointment slots, hand cleaning stations and a one way system ensure safety. The cafe has excellent home made food and healthy vegan options. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
I visited this on 24 the July 2016. It's of world standard in terms of display and maintenance. Fossil of a deer extinct 10,000/ years ago is one of the valuable collections in this museum. Smaller when compared to London museum s. But those who visit Bristol must visit this museum. As an author from India, I enjoyed visiting museums and historical places in England.
A fun day walking around with heaps of interesting biological exhibits! My favourite were the dinosaurs. Staff at the visitor shop were warm and friendly.
The Bristol Museum is located on Queens Road. The museum is open every day except on Monday. Due to it's popularity, booking a time slot is necessary, but entry is free. The Bristol Museum consists of 3 floors. The ground floor is mainly filled with ancient and archeological exhibits. The cafe and gift shop is also located on this floor. The first floor is where you'll find the Dinosaur exhibit and the wildlife displays. A stuffed Alfred the Gorilla can be seen. The second floor is the Art Gallery.
