Loved this place. The decor was eclectic, with so many treasures from my childhood that brought back fond memories. A mess of collectibles from the 60s and 70s reminded me of my late grandmother's house. Food wise, the quality of food was excellent. Can tell they took the time to get good quality ingredients and their traditional dishes had gone through so many drafts that the end product is nothing short of perfection. Price was slightly more expensive than other similar places. But then again, there are few other places that can really compare, and you are paying for quality. Uncle Frederick was very on the ball and made sure he made customers feel the warmth and welcome that added to the homely feel of both the place and the food. A slight smudge in service though were the other service staff who were a bit inefficient. If I could sum up my experience. It's like being in the Ratatouille movie where I was the food critic and British Hainan food brought me back to memories and taste of my childhood dishes. Would definitely go back again many times.

excellent oxtail stew! it is a must must order here. tender and melts in your mouth with extremely tasty gravy that goes well with the fries from the pork chop. the interior is just plain amazing like a vintage museum
Excellent service (prompt, sparkling clean, courteous and friendly) and awesome food esp the stew dishes. We were pleasantly surprised that the food came within 10 mins of ordering. The homemade lemon tea was so good! Though, one criticism is very limited options for vegetarians...just the fries and fruit salad.
I was brought there for lunch by a good friend. It turned out to be a yummy surprise.Food was excellent and sevice is way better. It so impressed me I just had to bring my wife there for dinner. It pleased her so much we are planning to bring friends there .
Lovely quaint place with lots of vintage items and curios. The Hainanese pork chop, ox tail stew and beef noodles are all solid, reliable choices. Rare British ale that the rest of the world dislikes; i.e. Timothy Taylor's Landlord can be enjoyed here.
British Hainan food is good and there are plenty of old stuff collection by the owner, childhood memories. It’s a cosy chat place for friends and family.
Authentic food and staff. The decor is a veritable museum to 50-70s Singapore. See if you sport the Commodore64 machine. May be a little pricy for great value, but definitely repeatable.
This is a great hidden gem in the area. Located far from the Main Street. The collectables displayed in the restaurant is cool, although scary to see a lot of Mao’s figure in the inner room. The owner is very friendly and talk to the customer like friends. The food is also good, especially the Hainanese ox tail stew. The only disappointed dish is the sausage.
