Everything went smoothly with the closing of our home, until a “software issue at their financial institute” caused the check for the proceeds from the sale to be returned and a new check to be issued a week after closing. No heads up, no notification from the attorney, just an email saying we need to take time out of our day to come pick up the check and deposit it again at the bank. All the funds were silently withdrawn from our bank account. If you need to buy or sell a home, choose an attorney that takes responsibility and properly handles the financial aspects of the sale. Delays like this can negatively affect closings and mortgage underwriting. Don’t settle for less.
