Food quality was ok... Pretty disappointing on the crunchy chicken size. Was also missing coleslaw and pickles... Just tiny piece of chicken on a bun...

After driving for a time, we had planned to stay in Brooks at the HI H&CC. We were a bit late than we anticipated and drove in to the next door HI. Were directed to the next door property. The check in quick. This property is definitely dated than its property next door. Was evident from the lobby itself. Now, Brooks being a cattle town, they had lots sellers of cattle in town with their cattle. The air outside the hotel and generally in Brooks had a strong aroma of dung and perhaps cattle as well. The rooms were. It impressive. The room small and dark and not furnished properly. The AC was noisy. The beds not comfortable and bathroom in not a state where expected it to be. Glad we slept for one night. Came in late and left very early. As we stepped out of our room the next morning the stench was unbearable in the lobby, the hallway, the check in area - everywhere. The ladies were about to throw up. Quite honestly we were too. Too much to bear. Informed the front desk and they said there was this cattle thing. Avoid town, if at all possible specially if something similar is happening. Us city folks were about to die!

On a civic holiday long weekend in late July/early August 2020, stopped with family in this hotel on our way back to Toronto. This review is not primarily about our room or the location, all of which was very good and fairly priced - - it's because they went out of their way to help us in a crisis. On the morning of our check-out, our rental minivan got a flat some 40km out of town, and with everything closed for the long weekend and needing to get back to Ontario asap, we were in a stressful tough spot. The young lady at reception was very reassuring, and asked her colleagues for any insider local tips for an after-hours garage, which they found for us (Integra Tire nearby, which opened up to help us). What's more, she told us that management had authorized that we could stay in our room as long as we needed to for the situation to resolve, including an extra night if need be, and there would be no extra charge. Luckily we were able to solve our tire problem and get on the road in the late afternoon, but we won't forget their hospitality and gracious gesture anytime soon. Thank you.

The good. Rooms have been updated. Decent parking. Bed was super comfortable. The not good. I walk in at 11 at night and the woman acts shocked and annoyed that I would walk in and not have a reservation. When I give her my CLC card she asks I'm driving anything big and I tell her yes but it's just a single truck. Then we get into a conversation about where I'm from because of how I sound, which is from the United States. So then I get grilled on where I crossed, where I came from, where I'm going, why I'm in Canada. Then she makes the offhanded remark, I guess you must be allowed here because you crossed the border. Allowed? Screw you. Obviously she thinks that she's far superior to the United States and Canada border patrols, combined. And during all of this, again at 11 at night, after I worked a 16-hour day, she proceeded to tell me how they are a covid-19 hotel. Am I immediately thought of this, and you're questioning if I'm allowed to be here? Again, screw you. The bad. I got my workout in this morning dancing in and out of scalding hot and freezing cold water because the bathrooms obviously have not been updated. And since it has individual hot and cold water, and I'm assuming the water supply system has not been updated, you set the temperature then every 5 Seconds either go scalding hot or freezing cold. Hopefully this morning I have somebody more decent than nosy Nancy to deal with.
