I feel like counseling is always talked about in a negative connotation, but I talk about my experience with counseling here like it's my best friend. I absolutely love the experience and look forward to going. I got paired with the PERFECT counselor for me, and I would recommend counseling to everyone just simply based off my experience here.

Be very cautious of the counseling here. The counselor I met with made me feel worse about myself and left me feeling discouraged and hopeless after meetings. He had absolutely nothing to offer for spiritual growth other than what a pastor can say. He insisted that every counseling problem is rooted in idols and sin - even ADHD and lack of social skills when you repeatedly try to ask for help and pray about your struggles. He told me it was \biblical counseling\ but I can say as a Bible believing Christian that what there is nothing especially spiritual about it. I honestly want to go demand my money back because they don't deserve it and it's very expensive for offering no help at all. If you've heard good things about someone here ask for a specific name or go somewhere else.

The name is deceiving.... I called in, hoping to ask for details about any programs they might have for those who are unemployed and I was told I’d have to fill out a financial form. The starting price was for something like if you make 35,000 to 00.00 it costs 65 a visit. I asked if there were any assistance programs but nooope. I was told “oh since you make nothing it’ll be 65 a visit.” Because that’s how math works. Have to deal with my crippling depression and anxiety from a retaliatory termination all on my own. Thanks for the help, this is definitely what Jesus would do, isn’t it?

At times they are busy. There is one person in charge of administrative tasks. Ie. answering phones. It's not a huge operation so you might have to call a few times to get an answer. When the normal Administrative Assistant is not available the counselors try to man the phones but have to see their clients also. This makes someone always being at the phone difficult. Honestly, that's just part of running a small operation. The staff are extremely friendly and want to make a real difference. So have a little patience with the phone answering issue, as I see that's what most are complaining about, and I promise you it's worth it. You will and can get the help you need here. Again, the staff is really welcoming and they care.

Tried for two weeks to contact A&M Christian Counseling Center after being referred from TAMU for a specific counseling need. No one ever answers the phone to schedule an appointment, and when leaving a message for times they can call back, the call back is during a time specifically said was busy. Definitely went somewhere else because I got bad vibes just from the phone answering (or lack thereof).
