Just back from 4 nights at the Westwind. We had a relaxing and successful stay. This resort has some very strong points: the setting is superb, with beautiful views of the lake and woods, very nice gardens, a pleasant forest trail, a good location for visits to area towns, a good selection of canoes, kayaks, water bikes, a rowboat etc., a very clean pool and deck. Our room was clean and comfortable, even though simple and compact (the fridge was exceptionally quiet). One point of excellence: the chef! Our dinners and breakfasts were excellent: very well-prepared, varied, tasty (excellent sauces), generous portions. The dining experience was for sure a highlight of the visit. The dining room is nicely decorated, spacious, with good views of the lake. All in all, recommended. A reminder: as the website says, this is a “relaxed” resort. It is cozy, comfortable, friendly, and simple. Some features (some furnishings, docks, etc.) are well-worn, linens and washrooms are of standard quality. The family running the resort seems to be doing renovations in an ongoing way (our room had a new wooden floor). If you are looking for a flashy, brand-new, “luxury” resort, Westwind is not for you. You will greatly enjoy it if you are looking for a peaceful break, good food, friendly, helpful staff, simple coziness, and a gorgeous natural setting.

The staff were very attentive and informative about local attractions to visit. My husband and I were upgrade to a beautiful suite as we were celebrating our honeymoon! The resort was a nice retreat for couples who like to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We loved that all water equipment such as canoes, kayaks and paddle boats were included with our stay. No need to carry money with you to use any of the recreational amenities! The food was prepared by a chef who took personal care of each person's preferences. The food was fantastic!! Can't say enough good things about our stay!

We got one of the lakeside rooms and we were so excited. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the Westwind Inn. Here is why: -\tAll interactions with the owner were unpleasant. The owner entered our room to investigate the source of a beeping noise that kept us up all night. We also asked him for help concerning the fridge in our room which was very loud as well and disrupted our sleep. He was very rude to say the least. First, he said that there was no beeping noise, until he finally called another employee, who confirmed that she too could hear it. Then he explained to us that “all fridges make noise” in a very condescending and arrogant tone. He also addressed my wife with disrespectful sarcasm that is not appropriate for paying guests. One of the “highlights” was when he noticed that the floor was a bit wet (we had just returned from the swimming pool) and after making an angry comment about it, he told us that we should take off our shoes every time we enter our room to avoid damaging the hard-wood floor by making it wet. He created a bad atmosphere unnecessarily. -\tWe love hiking. Before booking our vacation at the Westwind Inn we called the, up and asked if there were hiking trails close to the hotel. We were told that there are “infinite hiking trails” in a nearby provincial park and on-site and that they are all walking distance from the Inn. This turned out to be utterly untrue. -\tThe shower: no water pressure to a point that barely any water came from the shower head. Bottom line: if you don’t like being treated disrespectfully and want to have a nice vacation in a welcoming environment, go somewhere else.

350 per night, plus 20/person for breakfast, extremely expensive for a 3 star inn with no refrigerator in the room, no coffee maker, no microwave, and a very old TV with only 6 channels, no cable. During the four days that we stayed, no housekeeping was offered, and our towels were changed only once when we rewuested new towels. The temperature outside was over 30 degrees Celsius, and with no refrigerator or microwave, and with one 11 year old boy, it was an extremely unpleasant experience. Also, the facility advertises Jacuzzi, but the Jacuzzi was closed and no discount was offered. Terrible to say the list, we will never go back to Westwind Inn.

Lots of activities available. Swimming, golf practice, bikes, badminton, horseshoes. The hiking trail is short, try to take the marked trail. The watersports are fun and the lake is large. Canoe for more than an hour before reaching the locks in Buckhorn. Kayak was available too. Got to try Hydra-bike for the first time. The town of Buckhorn nearby has boat watching as they go through the locks and the local pizza shop is very tasty.

We THOUGHT This WAS an absolutely astonishing location on Buckhorn! We were so excited to stay here until we checked in and had the “real” experience of the resort. We had checked in to our room and the resort staff was amazing. Everyone was kind to us allll day we didn’t have a single problem. We had a bon fire at night around 9 pm which the owner had decided to invite herself to To. Be extremely rude to my fiancé who has a naturally loud voice who had been doing nothing but having conversations all day. So if you have a Loud Voice I would very strongly recommend finding elsewhere to stay because the owner herself in person will come to you and let you know that you (out of the other 3 people she had been accommodating) had to go to bed or leave at 930 because she had some pregnant lady who whatever reason needed quiet at 8pm. Absolutely horrible attitude and sarcasm from the OWNER and then had staff come to solve the problem which only led to him threatening and blowing in our faces without a face mask during the corona virus. Very professional. One of the absolute. Worst locations I have ever been to in my entire life. Ever. I have never had so much disrespect towards me and my fiancé in my entire life. For having a loud voice. I can not believe that this experience has even happened. This was a truely terrifying experience. I would not recommend this to anyone. Especially for the price. Absolutely terrible management. So rude.
