Cape Hatteras is probably the most iconic of the NC Lighthouses. It is well known across NC, the United States, and probably the world. The lighthouse is easily accessible, there is a wonderful gift shop, and there are lots of camping areas and beaches. There is also a very nice trail on site. I would certainly recommend visiting. The best time to visit the lighthouse is in the off season (November through February). While you can't climb during this time, the benefit is that it's not very busy, and you can get great photos.

You can get pretty close to the lighthouse but can't go inside it right now. Its visible from the beach and makes for some cool pictures. The store doesn't have a very big selection of souvenirs. Public restrooms are available and there is a nice covered area with benches to sit a while and view the lighthouse

Beautiful sight. First time visiting and especially wanted to see this. Site was very clean and had historic information on lighthouse, lighthouse keepers, housing and so much more. Every American should visit and learn the history of NC. If only these sands could talk what stories they would tell.

This lighthouse, like the other in the Outer Banks, are an impressive part of history for such a neat place. We totally recommend taking the time to visit all of them.

One of my favorite lighthouses! Covid-19 prevented us from climbing the lighthouse, bit it is still a breathtaking sight. The beach is accessible and the museum is quaint. We packed a picnic lunch and made a day of just wandering around the property.
