Cairn Research has supplied our lab with numerous fluorescence imaging systems, including OptoScan Monochromators, Cairn OptoLED and arc lamp light sources, and an OptoSplit emission image splitter. Cairn Research is a manufacturer of light sources and detection equipment for fluorescence microscopy. In my laboratory, I am using the Cairn OptoScan Monochromator for ratiometric fura-2 imaging of cellular calcium concentrations, and the OptoLED system for high speed imaging of transmembrane potentials from cardiac tissues. What I love about this company is the quality and the reliability of every piece of equipment that I purchased. The instruments are made of high-grade materials (mostly aluminum for the optics components) and are intended for heavy everyday use in the laboratory. They always work right out of the box and perform as expected. And this is also due to Cairn's expert customer service team who asks the right questions about intended use of the instrument and ensures that the configuration matches the customer's specifications before any parts are shipped. Cairn Research Ltd is a great company that I recommend without any reservations.
