I highly recommend these shop! I had a nice conversation with Trevor. He had an amazing knowledge about the aborigines and could explain the meaning of every didgeridoo. It was a nice atmosphere and he gave me never the feeling that I have to buy something because he worked with passion and not just for the earnings. Without his support and explainations I hadn't bought anything...because he convinced me!

I wanted to buy a boomerang as a memory to Australia. I found by far the best in this little shop in the heart of cairns. Besides from some very interesting facts about the aboriginal culture we got a free lesson in playing the didgeridoo. Very cool, you should visit, if you are in town.
I bought a didgeridoo from them and was told the meaning of the carvings and the artwork by the creator, Trevor. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. It arrived via FedEx and in perfect condition. The boomerang that I purchased and had shipped along with it, however, was broken in two. I can't even glue it back together because the wood splintered when it broke. It wasn't packed in anything more than a single plastic grocery bag. I've emailed them 3 times, once with pictures of the damaged item. No response. So the verdict is still out on their customer satisfaction. It was the one thing my son requested that I bring him from Australia. I'm pretty bummed. If they contact me and ship another one I will definitely retract the negative part of this comment.
Just know that any didgeridoo sold in that store is a FAKE one. Just a stick that they drilled a hole into. You'd be confused by endless charm and stories by Trevor the sales men who never bothers to tell you that the didgeridoo you are buying is nothing but a stick that costs a lot of money and you might as well grab a PVC pipe and blow it. In no way it is worth the money they ask for it
I called into Universal Joint Didgeridoo Specialist recently in Cairns on the off chance to buy some wax and was greeted by Trevor Peckham. I walked into this store and left as a friend. Although I spent little on a little bit of wax. Trevor took the time to demonstrate how to apply this by showing us the art of applying from his workshop. He then spent an incredible amount of time showing me and my wife the techniques of playing the instrument and his knowledge and help were immense. He told us some lovely stories from his youth and about his grandfather and could have listened to him for hours. I didn't buy a didgeridoo as I already have one. I bought mine 20 years ago in Sydney, but never received anything like the help Trevor gave. I was only in Cairns for four nights, but returned to the shop, with the possible intension of buying another didgeridoo and was disappointed to find that Trevor was enjoying a day off. You could see from the customers in the shop, how busy and popular they are and I hope to contact them on my return to the UK to thanks Trevor for his impressive service. I can recommend a visit to anyone looking for a beautifully made instrument and they all look quality pieces. I have no hesitation to recommend Universal Joint Didgeridoo Specialists in Cairns
One of the best service experiences I have ever had. I met someone called Trevor and found him a well of knowledge on aboriginal culture, not only does he know every item in the store but who makes them. Each area has its own section for the tribes that contribute their art to the store. Being a sales rep, I found his manner friendly, warming and indeed now a friend on Facebook. Keep up the fantastic work and rapport Universal Joint. I left with the feeling I know the native people heritage, customs and of course some dream time stories!! Garoo!!
Trevor is an excellent storyteller. But 1100 for an ironbark didgeridoo is ridiculous. You can get a decent acoustic grade ironbark didgeridoo for about 230 just 400m radius from this place. Go to universal joint for the stories and to learn to play but not to buy.
2 of my friends and I visited this shop to browse around for some nice souvenirs. Trevor came directly to us and offered to teach us how to play a didgeridoo since we've never played one. He also told us many stories about his youth and his family, about the Aboriginal culture, so their language and the meaning of the animals and different colours. It was very interactive and very fun and it was kind of like a lesson for life as well. We intended to only browse around for some minutes but we ended up staying more than two hours listening to Trevor, because it was very interesting and exciting how lovely and enthusiastic he talked about his culture. The shops carries all kinds of Aboriginal goods. High quality didgeridoos and boomerangs (beautiful and hand made), beautiful art in different sizes and small goods like necklaced as well. The service is pretty good and very enthusiastic about everything sold in this shop (not only Trevor). I mean.. The goods are not that cheap but it is definitely fair! My friend returned to buy a beautiful and high quality boomerang as a souvenir and also out of respect to the shop and his owner. I will return in a few months and I won't leave without buying a small painting. How can you not love this shop? Trevor, thank you for everything you have taught us, you are lovely. Hopefully your business keeps running good, just keep it real! Kind regards, Your sister and brothers Inken, Melf and Jonathan
