The Alberta Municipal Health and Safety Association (AMHSA) is an educational non‑profit organization that promotes the knowledge of health and safety in the workplace. Our mission is to guide municipal employers in implementing effective occupational health and safety (OHS) management systems, and educating employees through classroom and online training. Who are AMHSA members? Every town, village, municipal district, county, city, and specialized municipality in Alberta is a member of the association. Our funding comes primarily from a municipal levy collected by the Workers’ Compensation Board-Alberta (WCB-Alberta). With offices in Calgary and Sherwood Park, AB, AMHSA’s mandate is to provide all Alberta municipalities and small businesses with cost‑effective OHS education and customer‑focused training that help keep workers and communities safe. In addition to providing training, AMHSA also: * Provides classroom and online courses that are cost‑effective and accessible throughout Alberta * Acts as a Certifying Partner in the Partnerships In Injury Reduction (PIR) program * Coordinates Safety Councils throughout the province * Works with municipalities to help them implement, evaluate, and maintain their health and safety management systems * Monitors and disseminates information on OHS legislation and government policies that impact our members * Offers a variety of AMHSA Certification Programs * Employs knowledgeable staff and subject matter experts who work with you to build your health and safety management system
