Great place for skating! Tons of space so you can easily avoid contact with other people. If you can avoid coming on weekends that would be ideal as well if you want to avoid the crowds. The trees are lit up with outdoor lights and there are decent lighting as well which is great for evening skating as well. In the summer this place turns into a boating area as well. Great outdoor space for sure! Highly recommend coming to it!

This park is such a beautiful place to walk, hang out with friends. You can sit near the river and enjoy the soothing warmth of the sun and that sound of water makes it so special to be there. Best time to go is before Sunrise.

I've only been here during the winter time and let me just say, it's my favorite spot to go ice skating. Huge skating rink/trails. Can definitely be very busy so go at night around 8pm or go really early. I bet it's really nice in the summer. There was also an option to rent ice bikes which we never tried cause of the long wait times.

Great place to skate with a group since the ice is huge and if you don't have skates, they do have rentals. It's also nice when they got the fire pits going so you can relax and also warm up. At night, some lights do come on for skating.

Massive props to Calgary for making something like bowness park happen. Being able to skate around the main area is awesome! The nice there is the smoothest however a not so hidden gem is the series of pathways and trails you can skate on. But stay vigilant, it’s not as smooth and there are times where the ice is cracked. There’s also places for you to warm up, there are a bunch of fire places and benches.
