Awe inspiring lights display here! It’s such a heart warming gesture that Calgary kept the lights up here longer than usual this year. With Covid it has made me so happy to see how beautiful it is. The ice rink is really busy during the day and seems like a popular place to find joy. The Olympic Plaza is also quite educational, with plaques everywhere celebrating Canadian Olympic wins, and contributions. The architectural style is very classically Roman and it’s a peaceful place to be. I was lucky to catch a few quiet moments here around 5 am. I think the only thing that disappoints me is that this plaza is closed and fenced off with a police watch the entire night. It takes away from the magic to feel as though the ice rink is under martial law between the hours of 10 pm - 9 am.

Good place to go for a skate. Especially during COVID when many arenas are closed. Depending on the day, you might be waiting in a long line though. Wish they cleaned the ice more frequently as well.

I’ll give 5 stars for the rink! Well maintained area! Really love how they polish the rink every now and then. There’s obviously limited capacity in the rink, so might as well impose that only those who will skate are allowed to enter as they add up to the occupants in the rink. But of course with the exception of kiddos with their parents/guardian. It’s barricaded and well guarded by security so its a na ahh to enter without going through them. I suggest you go there when it’s sunset to witness the Christmas tree lights plus amazing view from the Calgary tower. Accessible washroom is located towards the pillars(stage side). Bench are socially distance, and everyone has their own bench for their stuff. Fire place are also lit up during day and night. I guess this is the perfect rink in the city!
I went to this park today. It was a great opportunity for me to see this amazing place. Olympic plaza is a beautiful park for workers' break time. A lot of people use to skate here as it's an iced area. It is located on the other side of the municipal's building. This place usually hosts concerts and festivals. You can see Calgary tower when you stand beside those orange pines. I attached many photos I captured today during my visit to this place. I hope everyone will enjoy skating here soon.
