Limited stock when I visited a week ago. Looks like it was a nice place before they decided to close. Everything was 50% off, which was great for seeds and tomato plants (2.99 each before discount). But individual herb plants at 5.99 each before discount is just baffling. Sunday evening just before closing was pretty quiet. Carts look to be across the street and need a coin (not convenient).
So sad this long standing Calgary business is closing. This place has EVERYTHING for your yard at very reasonable prices. Their plants are healthy and they give great advice on the best choices. And now everything is on Sale!
I love this place, but this is their last year open. It seems everything is 50% off. No refunds or exchanges. They have sold the land and are closing at the end of this growing season and it breaks my heart. We stopped by yesterday and it was like visiting a school in the middle of summer and it felt ghostly. Hope you see it before it's gone.
My best advice, is go anywhere else! They have more people on "security" than on customer service. We had bought almost 100 worth of overpriced gardening supplies last fall and were told that if we didn't need them we could just "bring them back for Store Credit". This season we did exactly that, were treated like criminals. At first they refused to accept their own stuff back (we had no receipt) but the Sunny-side greenhouse price stickers were all over everything. We weren't trying to get our money back, only exchange. I had to plead and beg the manager to do the right thing and was made to feel like a criminal and they acted like they were doing a big favor by providing any customer service at all. Prices are REALLY high, attitude of Management and staff is terrible. I'd give this overpriced belligerent bunch a pass. Spend your hard earned money somewhere that your patronage is appreciated and you're not treated like dirt. Read the other comments below about the RIP OFF prices at Sunnyside!
I'd argue that Sunnyside is the best place to go in the city if you're looking for new, modern style PVC or wicker outdoor furniture. We stumbled upon their outdoor section in a tiresome attempt to find reasonable priced patio furniture. Was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable prices and accommodating staff.
Will be missed. Closing permanently. Huge sale. 50% off everything. Items going fast. RIP. sunny side.
Large selection of plants. Staff are very helpful with giving me information with regards to the climate and what plants work here. Having moved from the green belt in Ontario there is a huge learning curve and they have been very helpful.
