Camp kinser is really awesome if you have good people here with you. I love it because I’ve been blessed enough to find amazing people to surround myself with and I also have amazing leadership that inspires me to be better. To be honest with you, it looks like just a bunch of warehouses to most people. It’s easy to get lost if you’re new here. However, if you swallow your pride and just ask someone, they’ll help you. Also, a lot of people offer rides on this base when they see people walking. Camp kinser is also in a nice place because it’s right next to the ocean, a big mall, and lots of places to eat. You can literally walk to the beach, walk to go get ramen or ice cream and walk back if you wanted to.

Great memories! 1990-1993 was attached to Motor Transport Platoon, H&S Company, 3rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd FSSG, USMC. Time goes by so fast. I appreciate the kindness the Okinawan people showed every day.
Was stationed there June 1995 to June 1996, 3rd FSSG, 3rd Maintenance Bn
I was stationed on Kinser from 1997-1998. Great base to spend my last year on. Okinawa is a paradise. Wanted to settle there for good. Will go back someday.
Stationed there in '82-'83; the best 18 months of my career in the Army! Wish I had taken more pictures! Miss all the friends I made!!
I was there when it was known as Machminto service Area .in 1962 to 1969. Love it there but visited about 8 years ago and the Island has changed like one city now. I like the old Okinawa much better.
I was there most of 1984 when I wasn't off on a float for war games. I remember the kind people, going to Naha to play Pachinko, eat Yakisoba, watch kung-fu movies and staggering back to base to run "gates" which was all 4 gates and 7 miles of this base in the morning during PT. There was a whacky band called Condition Green with a guy in a surgeon costume if you knew the secret clubs. Also served at various other bases but Camp Kinser and Naha hold fond memories. Peaceful Love 84 was a giant festival of powerful Chimu Rock with the biggest names at the time
I was stationed here years ago and I loved it. I wish I had stayed honestly. One of the best places I've ever been to and going to Hoka Hoka Tay (I know I misspelled it) was a ritual almost every week. That and heading out to Naha or hearing street racers from my barracks. I don't know if non-military besides family and civilian employees can visit the base, but if so then I would love to come back to see the first base I was ever stationed at again. I'm sure a lot has changed over the years, but I remember this place as well as the area in general with a lot of good memories. Semper Fi.
