I started a small business this year and obviously there are a lot of tax planning that has to happen. Before I have my consultation session with Richard I went to a few other shops and talked to a few other highly experienced professionals. And when I give Richard 5 stars review rating my baseline is that average tax professionals that I interviewed should get a 3 star. So there are a few things that impressed me a lot. First of all, Richard clearly gave me the impression that he really wants to help me. As soon as the discussion started, I quickly noticed that getting my business wasn't his priority, helping me out, was. He approached my situations as a mentor/guide and was really, really honest about different accounting approaches and the risks/gains associated with them. Secondly he was extremely risk aware. Rather than suggesting the riskiest move that \save\ your taxes, he helps you formulate a strategy that save your tax over the long run and at the same time minimize your risk of getting an audit or other type of criticism from IRS. His sensitivity to risk is much different from other providers I have interviewed with. So clearly my business went to him, and I have no problem recommending him to anyone who need tax planning, strategies and filing tax returns.
