Car park can be busy as it's a popular location for dog walkers and cycling but once you get into the woodland itself it's easy to social distance and depending on the trail you choose you barely see anybody else. The shorter trails like the brown trail seem to be more popular in the winter whereas the longer red (2.5 miles) and black trails (7.5 miles) are quiet. Very muddy and sloshy in parts at this time of year but take a pair of wellies and waterproof clothes and you can still have loads of fun taking in the beautiful woodland and streams.

Absolutely stunning this ancient woodland so beautiful . Lots of trails can spend hours in here. Miles of gorgeous woodland so so so pretty. Took me four hours to walk round whole of the woods. Really great for dog walking and fitness lots of hills which I love to work out my legs. I can walk for several hours and see no one in this woods once I out of rough common entrance. Which I love the peace and tranquility. In summer was so lovely I came to woods because of covid19 didn't want to go to beach and social distance was fab hardly saw anyone when in thick of woods. Plenty of seating around the woods wouldn't sit on floor as wood ants have lovely pinches they might be small but their little pinches make ya yelp!! They not harmful don't worry. Very enchanting and beautiful woods really recommend to go to. However winter months can be Muddy on most trails unless stick to main route. Summer months are best to see woods. Ancient woodland

Beautiful and stunning ancient woodland...... several trails to take.... depending on how much time you have for walk and how much can do. The black trail takes four to five hours to complete. Winter months can be quite muddy in places but summer months it's lovely as so many trails can go down and enjoy. There are benches around the woodland so can have a rest and take in and enjoy. If really hot day woodland good place to go to as gives you shelter from sun but still enjoying outside. Lots of covid19 social distanceing. Great place take dogs for walks. I felt pretty safe walking in woodland by myself and was great to reduce stress. Calming effect as release oxygen I feel helps have a calming effect. Blean woods very beautiful and large area to cover. I love there is lots of hills as feel had good work out. 2020 this was bit of a safe haven as beaches were no go for me just thought hardly any social distancing so I came here to relax.

Part of the Blean Complex, an area of ancient woodland. There is a free car park accessible down a rough track, locked over night. There is a dog walking route and several public foot paths where gods are allowed although they need to be kept on a lead or under control at all times. The other paths of varying length dog walkers are asked not to use as they cross sensitive areas where dogs my cause disruption to breeding birds and other wildlife. A number of rides and glades are maintained within the woods for the benefit of the rare heath fritillary butterfly. Nightingales, all three species of woodpecker and even nightjar can be found. Parts of the woodland are carpeted in bluebells and wood anemones in season. There are a few benches along the dirt footpaths and a small picnic area by the car park. No toilet facilities. Some of the paths are uneven and become very muddy especially in winter.
