I can't give it 5 in its current state - it's recovering from flooding and pretty muddy in places. The paths are not too bad, and the river is back in its banks for now. Nice to feed the ducks and swans (even if the duck food vanishes in the swirling water almost instantly). Looks like the bulbs will be flowering in a few weeks too.

Peaceful and delightful area with attractive walks available along the river bank. Well maintained gardens and interesting trees and plants. A number of bridges are available to cross the river. Ideal for a quiet rest from shopping in the nearby town centre.
Nicely maintained gardens with flower beds, grass park meadow, quaint surrounding historical buildings, flowing river, and walks out to the natural reserve of the Hambrook marshes along the Great Stour river. Enchanting.
A lovely area of beautifully managed gardens with space to sit and enjoy the gardens which start from the Westgate towers. When you get to the Rheims way fly over the manicured gardens become a great kids play area called Toddlers Cove. There's also football pitch, toilets and car park. The path along the river is a more wild green area but still lovely. Onward you come to a railway bridge and there's a meandering riverside pathway walk to Chatham and beyond. Well worth a visit and a great place to walk or cycle.
One bench in the sun looking at a future ballerina having her pix taken under the arch, students laughing, runners, 2 toddlers playing looked after by grandma. Life passes by in lockdown. Oh! And a Ruppert bear having his unusual bottom photographed!
