Less than a mile from Cardiff Central Station and only 5 miles from junction 32 of the M4, can be found the impressive SSE SWALEC cricket stadium (a.k.a Sophia Gardens) bounded completely on one side by the the River Taff. Glamorgan have played County Cricket at Sophia Gardens since 1967 but the old ground was transformed into a magnificent new stadium, ready for International cricket, with redevelopment that was completed in Mar-2008. The reward for such development investment arrived soon afterwards in Jul-2009, when the SWALEC Stadium played host to the first England -v- Australia 'Ashes' Test match of the Summer, the first such Test Match ever to be held at the ground. And a very enjoyable Test Match it proved to be . . . with England stalwarts successfully \holding-out-for-a-final-day-draw\.

A wonderful cricket ground worthy of holding cricket World Cup games. The staff here are very helpful and always ready to assist you. The stands are what you would expect, tiers of seats, some covered, others not - depending on the type of ticket you purchase. All in all, a great experience and welcoming atmosphere, whether you're a neutral watching the game or following a team, you'll enjoy watching it here. Pros: Welcoming staff Easy to navigate Park and ride option from Cardiff football stadium Great atmosphere Cons: Stadium priced foods (of course) I recommend bringing some food with you! AT
