We love Carl’s Cakes, and have been customers for over 15 years. They made our wedding cake in 2010, and everyone loved it. Even though we live 30 minutes away we continue to buy his cakes whenever we need one. What really sets them apart from other cake makers is their frosting. It’s a light and fluffy buttercream that has a rich buttery flavor that is refreshing compared to the super sweet frostings that grocery stores typically use. They also have delicious fruit fillings they can and do add to most cakes. They have pre-made cakes you can pick up on short notice, or you can order sheet cakes or custom wedding cakes. They have always been able to accommodate any need for us.

Today we celebrated my daughter's 32nd birthday. She reminded me that we have had a Carl's cake almost every year since she was16. And today's cake reminded us of why that is. Even though we don't live in Madison any more, we still make it a point to get a Carl's cake for all of our birthdays. Thank you for your wonderful cakes(and pies, etc). We all truly enjoy them!

I ordered my wedding cake from Carl's Cakes. Unfortunately, Carl sold his business and recipes. The only 2 things that were right about my wedding cake were the decoration and where it was delivered. I had a 3 tier cake and each tier was to be a different flavor that I had picked with cake tasting. Every single tier was incorrect. I have always loved Carl's recipes and was very disappointed by how horrifically the tiers were messed up. I had ordered: chocolate/hazelnut for 1 tier, lemon cake with raspberry/lemon fillings, and chocolate cake with raspberry filling. I wound up with a lemon cake with hazelnut/apricot filling, a white cake with mocha filling (I detest coffee) and chocolate cake with cream cheese and raspberry filling. When I went in to speak with the baker, she was not in on the first visit. She hid in the basement for the second visit. I find this to be very childish. Act like an adult and own up to your mistakes, do not leave someone else to fix it for you. The assistant general manager was very apologetic about the situation and is working with the corporate office to refund the cake in full. Wedding cakes are a large part of the wedding tradition and I do not get a \do over\ of my wedding day. I don't know if the baker is completely disorganized and lost my cake order, if she made the cake flavors she wanted, or if she mixed my cake up with someone else's. The decoration of my cake was great, but that was about it it. I am completely dumbfounded how someone could screw up an order this badly. If you cannot find the order or have any doubts about a WEDDING CAKE, one would think it would be common sense to CONTACT the individual that ordered the cake.
