I love this place. It has a terrific line in gifts, cards, wrapping paper, all really nice and no tat AND on top of that I bought beautiful little cyclamens on a buy-two-get-one-free deal. And the staff are great, too. Thank you, Bay View. I'll be back for more at the weekend!

Better off going to Archers cafe down the road. The food came out looking great but it was very dry. We asked for condiments but they never arrived. The bread was very hard. The chips were nice though.

The renovations are of a very high standard and it looks lovely but for me it’s lost the atmosphere that it had. We used to love walking along the bay from our caravan site with the dog and having a drink and cake at the cafe sitting in the covered outside area. There’s nowhere to do this now. I haven’t asked but I’m presuming dogs aren’t allowed in the restaurant and I wouldn’t be comfortable taking her in there even if they were - not after running along the beach!! There is an outbuilding cafe but only exposed outside seating which neither shelters from the wind, rain or sun - unless they’ve built something of this ilk since we last went. It’s not a place to drop into with your walking boots and windswept looks anymore - it’s a place I feel I need to look good in. Presumably this is what they were after and they’ve definitely achieved it. I’m sure they’ve gained many customers since the renovations but I’m sorry to say that they’ve lost us.

Thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea today. Good selection of sandwiches plus 2 scones with cream and jam. Also Lovely carrot cake, brownies and trifle. Very friendly staff and social distancing was well adhered to. Would recommend this.
