The Boardwalk comes in two options. Most updated in 2017 and beautiful completed is the wood plank boardwalk running a 1/4 mile along the beach shore offering swinging benches, beach overlook, bathrooms, outdoor showers and wood trusses sitting areas. The second boardwalk is the 2 block Boardwalk that in its heyday was a featured attraction with shops, eateries and amusement rides. Now, most shops sit empty, shrouded in papered over windows and faded street signs. A handful of restaurants, coffee shops and a few gift shops still add some interest and flavor to the quiet streets. One can still find a chunk of fudge, sip an iced caramel latte, order fresh seafood and enjoy a cocktail overlooking the ocean and/or pick up your usual tourist trinkets, but the shine and splendor has definitely lost its luster. Sad but true.

Short, narrow Boardwalk that is vacant during winter (Feb.). Maybe during summer is a completely different vibe.

So many fond memories of watching the sun rise and sun set. Spending most of my afternoons writing my thoughts, reading books and listening to the waves crash a shore. Going through the boardwalk and visiting all the local businesses when it was empty and enjoying the bars when it was busy. Also seeing the wildlife is always a plus, can’t you see the lil fella in this picture?? It will always hold a place in my soul️
