Patrick and his team were great to work with on our new system. We had a 28 year old unit and they came in, evaluated the situation, and designed a two zone set up where there used to be just one. The team was on time, polite, and they left very little evidence behind that they were even there. Patrick also followed up with us three weeks after the install and sent over the necessary paperwork for the rebates.

I have used Carolina Custom Air for a few years. And yes they are very courteous and knowledgeable in the work they perform. However, most recently they came out and performed the bi-annual maintenance inspection. And there were two items that raised some concern. 1) They did not contact me to get authorization to replace a non-failed but out of tolerance capacitor. This would not have really been an issue except for item #2. 2) The cost for said capacitor was 156. These capacitors run in the range of 12 to 40. After speaking with the Chief Maintenance Technician the reason that I was giving was that they need to make some profit and cover overhead for maintaining their stock. Now I do agree that some coverage is acceptable. However, 500% is really not acceptable. Had I been contacted and given the choice I may have considered replacing the capacitor myself as I am a qualified electrical engineer and the existing capacitor had not yet failed. They did offer an additional 15% for failure to obtain work authorization which I do appreciate. I will continue with CCA and their bi-annual service but would seriously question it if I receive another over priced part charge. My recommendation is that they make sure they receive authorization prior to performing work and also more transparency in the part pricing and overhead charging.

I got a brand new trane split unit installed by this company 2 years ago. Initially the brand new unit would not work because there was a recall on the part I was told. Had to wait a week before my brand new unit could be repaired to work properly, with no air. A year later had to call to be fixed because the unit shut off. This year I had another repair company come out because it sut off again to find out that a door on the unit was not put on properly and was pinching some tubing that controlled the air flow. So for 2 years my unit wasn't running properly and most likely causing me to pay more on my electric bill. I would not recommend this company for anything and will not let them step into my home again.
