A friend of mine recommended I try this tanning spa and, boy, do I regret it! When i first went in, there was no one even in the spa. The lady was next door and the spa was left completely unstaffed. I waited about 5 minutes before someone came in to help me. I went in with a coupon for three free tanning sessions and the lady at the front desk treated me as if I had stolen something. Her reply when I handed her the coupon was a scowl and a curt response of "How did you even get this?" She then attempted to make small talk with me but she still came off as extremely rude. I felt like she was not interested in my business. I expressed that I was actually very interested in buying a package and she barely explained their services and pricing. She did not explain that I had to actually start the tanning bed myself so I just sat there for a few minutes once I was in the tanning bed waiting (all the other facilities I had been to tan start the bed for you). I then looked around and saw that I had to press the button for it to start. I definitely will being going to another tanning spa.

I honestly would not listen to any of the bad reviews here. My experience here has been nothing but pleasant and I've tanned at numerous places for years. The first time I called regarding something specific about my membership and a little confusion I got a call back immediately from the owner letting me know what was going on. Very professional and I was impressed. When I went in for the first time one of the owners and the girl up front were very professional and friendly. I wasn't very familiar with the Versa beds and I was shown exactly what to do and given tips on how to have the best possible tan. I had a great looking tan this past week and my husband and friends agreed that it looked great. I have since went back and seen nothing but professionalism and friendly staff. They have a very clean spa, the beds are very clean, and it has a cozy feel too. I also love how I can use the Versa tan for 1 minute and I can be right in and out. I would definitely recommend this place!
I've been tanning at Carolina Tanning Spa since 2012 and have always been very pleased. The first time I went in to compare pricing & beds to the salon I was currently tanning at. Their beds were superior and the pricing on memberships were significantly cheaper (on top of that, they cut the price in half after 6 months!). The level 1 bed offered at CTS was comparable to my previous salon's level 3! The staff is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, in my opinion. Now, I’m excited to say I’m a proud employee of CTS and enjoy my co-workers and management. Every customer that I’ve come into contact with has been very nice and appeared to enjoy their experience tanning with us.
Outwardly this place seems nice but the more you go, the more you discover the flaws in the business practices. The Versa color hardly develops and when you question the level (fair/medium/dark), the manager tells you how much the machine costs and how the "other" salons don't calibrate their machines correctly. All I hear are excuses and the customer is never right. One time the machine did not spray anything and the attendant questioned me and told me to come back another time since they could not fix the problem. Go to Sun Tan City if you want service and results.
The receptionist had such a rude attitude and when I had called once her or another lady was so rude and unfriendly. She made it seem like I was wasting her time when I just had one question that couldn't be found anywhere. I will never ever be going to Carolina Tanning Spa because of the poor level of service. I will gladly take my money elsewhere where the people are friendly and understand customer service.
