If you don't like getting animal food and supplies from a big box store then this is a great place to check out. Good prices on dog food in larger sizes (I paid 20 for a 50lb bag). Friendly staff.

This week I purchased a 40 lb bag of black oil sunflower seeds and a bag of hardwood mulch. I went to the adjacent warehouse with my receipt so that the warehouse person could pull the two items and load them in my car. I was shocked to find his bandetta around his neck, rather than over his mouth and nose. He made no attempt to pull up the bandetta, which is the least effective of all masks NC has a mandatory executive order to wear facemasks. I shouldn't have to be the mask police to buy a product. I'll make no further purchased from Southern States until they enforce this executive order.

This is the most poorly run Southern States store I've ever shopped.The manager wasn't concerned about rude employees. Almost everyone there seems unhappy. Spent thousands of there....no more until they get rid of the manager and start offering good customer service.

My wife and our toddler went to get a few tomato cages and ask about bean poles this afternoon. The woman who "helped" them was abrasive and unwilling to listen, let alone ask follow-up questions to see if she understood their needs. It was close to the end of the day, but that is zero excuse for the treatment they found. Braving the COVID world is enough of a difficulty—a rude reception is the last thing anyone needs. We've been customers since moving to Carrboro five years ago and have never been received in such a curt manner (thus two stars instead of the one for a good history). I'm so put out about this I'm going to give money to Amazon, and if we decide to return I hope our next sales associate will be a respectful adult.

Just moved here full time and wanted to plant some plants. Our experience was less that optimal and the employee that helped us was very rude and ended up just walking away, although we were just asking questions. Have no idea her role, but based on a previous review, sound like someone else may have run into her as well.
