While the visitors center is closed due to COVID; I was still able to walk the grounds. On a cold and winter afternoon with some snow on the ground all was quiet and the road noise seemed muted. I thought a serene, peaceful, even a reverent memorial to a Prophet of God.

Historic location for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Was quite warm, small visitors center, and when we went back in 2010 the water fountain was not working.
This is a wonderful place to visit whether or not you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ. The missionaries that greet you are not preachy, but simply share the account of what occurred to the Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother. It boggles the mind to think and hear of the great injustice that took place here, and makes one grateful we live in much more civilized times. Despite the events that happened here, there is a spirit of peace and love. I highly recommend visiting this historic location.
This place has significant meaning for me. It's a big part of my church's history. I highly recommend it if you're ever near there.
This is a sacred and holy place where a modern-day prophet of God and his patriarch rather became martyrs of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. They sealed their testimonies of Jesus Christ and the book of Mormon with their blood.
