Iriana Vidales

I myself experienced the excellence and intelligence of this school. I feel comfortable because that school is like family. Everyone knows each other very well. It's the best school I have been to and it always will be. I wish I could stay there and finish the yrs I have left over at Alvina.

I attended Alvina Elementary School in its original location, on the NW corner of Saginaw and Elm. My teachers were Mrs. Sinclair for grades 1 & 2, Mrs. Bixby for grades 3 & 4, Mrs. Anderson for grades 5 & 6, and Mrs. Barnes, the principal, for grade 7. Then we moved in 1953 so I did not graduate there. I had a good experience there. The instruction was old-fashioned, but quite rigorous. I don't think it hurt me at all. There was also a strong music program for a small school.
