Who we are We are an organisation that exist to solve two social problems in the South African economy; youth unemployment and urbanization through developing an army of artisans for rural economies and the 4th Industrial Revolution. We solve these problems through skills development initiatives that benefit the youth, Small and Micro Enterprises, corporates, and the government of South Africa. What we do To address urbanization, we want the youth to learn artisan skills from their own villages and small towns without permanently moving to the big cities which are already saturated and where the cost of living is more expensive. We find learning opportunities for future artisans at training centers and workplaces, assist them with obtaining trades, help them with founding new artisan SMEs, provide a branding platform for them to appeal to and access desired markets, and find working opportunities for them once they are qualified artisans. To tackle youth unemployment, we champion artisan skills that are relevant for the 4th industrial revolution. We develop artisans through implementing accredited learnership and apprenticeship programmes at Small and Micro Enterprises in rural areas and small towns on behalf of Medium and Large Enterprises based in the big cities in line with their Corporate Social Investment (CSI) and Transformation strategies. Why we do it We believe in the importance and potential of rural economies and the capability of rural SMEs in contributing to the economy through skills development initiatives that employ the youth. We believe that there is a missing link between big corporates’ CSI and transformation initiatives and rural the areas and small towns in the country. We exist to be the skills development initiatives link between corporates in big cities and rural and small-town SMEs for purposes of empowering young talent through skills development initiatives that lead to the creation of more sustainable SMEs.
