Everything is absolutely delicious and authentic (even my pickiest Chinese friends approve). Soup dumpling is FILLED with soup and pan fried dumpling is very crispy. We did do dine in and were seated far from other tables. Food came out quickly and server doesn’t talk much but is kind and efficient. Takeout might be good if you steam it at home to reheat it.

My girlfriend suggested trying dim sum. After doing some research, we decided on giving Shanghai Dumpling a chance. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was nice with traditional decor. The service was friendly and helpful as well. This was my first time trying dim sum and I was very impressed with the cuisine. The meal was very affordable, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
THE BEST ASIAN RESTAURANT IN CHAPEL HILL!! I went to Chapel Hill a few months ago and came across this place. It is by far the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, and possibly even the best Asian food. So much flavor. Service was not the best, but that does not take away from the taste and experience of the food. 10/10 would recommend. Will always go here if I’m in need of flavorful, quality Asian food!
This place gave me food poisoning. I threw up multiple times in the following days of me eating here, and on top of that the food was mediocre at best. Not to mention the embarrassment of getting sick in public during the covid-era was certainly something I’d rather forget...needless to say, don’t go here.
I needed something quick and easy and good. Shanghai Dumpling didn’t disappoint me. The Sesame Chicken was very good and crispy...and served on a real plate! (It’s the little things.) Reasonably priced as well.
